How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

The images used in the print work feature strongly in the video, as seen on these images showing the album art work and the poster. The main focus of the advert is the canvas with the main girl's face painted upon it, in the field where we captured the shots of the boy painting her image. The advert, with its imagery of the canvas, enhances the enigma we have tried to create around the girl's character. The canvas alone raises several questions for an observer, such as who is the girl, what is the purpose of this painting, why has it been painted? The mystery created encourages an observer of the poster to watch the music video, where the clue to her character and the narrative that they have been given in the form of the canvas will be revealed. Also, the colours used in the video and the setting of the poster image are all the same as in the video, therefore, each piece complements one another rather than differs, making a well-rounded project.

The feelings of the male character are reflected by the scrawled typography featured on the advert and the album artwork. The untidy, scrawled, black writing suggests the boy's feelings of desperation and anger, which are enhanced by his facial expressions and his angry reactions in the music video. Furthermore, the appearance of a diary format in the album art work further creates the idea of an introverted character with lots of anger and pain who needs to express himself artistically, as indicated by the small drawings and paint splatters. Therefore, we have remained true to the character's persona through the video and print work and used each to complement the other.
