How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Research and Planning:

We used the internet website Youtube to discover many music videos which were categorised within out Genre. This helped us to develop an idea of the ideologies surrounding the themes we were exploring so we could either conform to the normal codes and conventions or break these.

In construction we initially used a stills camera to take photo's of storyboard's and to develop location shots. The stills camera allowed us to construct the scene before we filmed. We also used it to upload a digital copy of our storyboard's.

Once we uploaded out storyboards we used Window's Movie maker to initially compile together our sequences by a series of stills. This helped us in editing as we had an idea of what clips we were to use and when.

Construction:

To first start construction we recorded our song off Youtube via Audacity. This enabled us to cut the song down to were we would like it to finish.

We then went filming on location with an High definition Camera and Tri-pod to capture our footage.

Once our music and film was ready, we set up Premiere Pro to begin editing our footage. This allowed us to add special effects and give our video nice transitions between sequences.

During filming we also needed an image to use when the artist holds up a photo of the girl. This was created using Photoshop were we blurred the backgrounds, leaving her in focus in the foreground so her image was much more striking.

Evaluation:

Again in the evaluation we used Premiere Pro to set up another video which would allow us to give a running commentary over our finished piece. To do this we recorded our voices on a voice recorder and placed the clips over the top of the music (which we manipulated the audio gain so the song was significantly quiet when we spoke).

We then uploaded this onto the blog.

To help us with our audience feedback we uploaded our music video to sites such as Youtube and Tumblr in order to gain a variety of comments from various people. Then we print-screened the comments.
