Poster

We wanted to start looking at our poster and DVD cover. We know exactly what we want for our poster so decided to start that first. We know that we still have filming to do and editing but we decided that we didn't want to leave the printwork until last minute...

Rushing is never good!

We had a look at a few examples of Horror film posters:

Each of these posters had elements that caught our eye.

We really liked the simplicity of them. We thought that the more simple the poster is, the better and more eye-catching it seems to be.

We agreed that a black background (as in the images above) looked best for our chosen genre.

In addition, we really liked the moon idea on the "Friday the 13th" poster, and we thought that the colouring worked really well as it was eary and contrasted well with the black which made it stand out.

We also liked the idea of having the face of the main character as the main image that blends into the background. Similar to "The Descent" poster and "Mirrors" poster. This would create the idea of things being hidden from the audience which will hopefully make them want to know more and provoke them into watching our trailer.

The colour red and white seem to work really well for the titles and text on the posters so we have agreed to experiment with both colours to see which work best; white portrays innocence and red portrays danger.

We have also noticed that on some posters there is a quote from a magazine or newspaper about the film with a star rating and there is also a slogan to go with the title e.g. "What will it sound like when you die?" from the "One Missed Call" Poster.

We can't wait to get our ideas together and create a great, engaging poster for our film!
