"What have you learned from your audience feedback?"

We decided to show our trailer to our target audience which is mainly teenagers, with our film being a 15 certificate, plus any other older fans of the genre horror. We asked for their honest opinion on it and anything we could do to improve it. What we have noticed is that those who have seen it really liked it and from what we gather, the portrayal of the genre horror has been shown successfully. One person commented on the good choice of actress to play the main role, which was a thing we thought long and hard about, so are very happy with this comment.
We showed our final trailer footage to a member of our class, Abigail Henry.

Her opinion was:

"Yes, I really liked it. It was great. Absolutely nothing wrong with it at all. And I really understood what was going on."

In addition, we took a copy of our trailer home to let our families have a watch so that we could gather their opinions too.

Hannah's Mum said:

"I got shivers watching it. It's amazing. I actually want to watch the whole thing now. Please can you make the whole film?"

Martin's Mum said:

"It's really good and I enjoyed watching it. It portrays the genre of horror very well and the acting is great!"

Another thing we have learnt is that sticking to the conventional methods of presentation with the poster and DVD cover does work well as one person said they “Could actually see our poster up on a billboard and even the DVD cover sitting in a shop like HMV amongst the DVD’s because they look that realistic.”

However one thing we may do next time, taking feedback into account, is use different images for the DVD cover and poster. Despite all but one person not bringing this up, we feel if one in a select few thinks different images would be more appropriate, then more people would think the same should this have been a real feature film. From this we would still use the same ideas and character, maybe just a different picture for each.

Overall we have learnt that our trailer, poster and DVD cover are representative of actual products and that people like them a lot, especially the trailer as we have even had a request to create the actual film.
