We LOVED the idea of having the moon on our poster like the "Friday the 13th" poster. We thought that it looked really eary and effective. Afterall, a horror film is supposed to be dark and mysterious! I (Hannah) took a picture of the moon one evening. The quality of the image wasn't great but I thought that we could see what it looked like once edited.
This is the original image that a took:
We wanted the image to blend in to the black background so we used Adobe Photoshop to edit the image. We started off by using the 'paintbrush' tool to eliminate the outside of the image with the colour black.
We then used the 'colour burn' effect on the paintbrush and chose brush number 27 which had a soft edge. We also changed the opacity to 21% to start colouring in the cloud with a dark blue colour. The idea of using this effect was that instead of the colour coming out as a block colour, it would blend in with original colour and create a more natural look.

We continued to add more colour; different blues and browns. We also added the odd white to brighten some parts of the cloud. In addition, we continued to soften the edges of the cloud to make it blend into the background successfully. Eventually, our final image looked like this:
Unfortunately, the image still had a grainy look to it so we decided to experiment with using the blur and sharpen tools until we got a nice defined image for our poster. This was the final image that we have decided to place in the top left hand corner of our poster:
