Recently, a Speed Dating event was held locally at the Red Lion pub in Hindley. We saw this as a perfect oppertunity to experience a real speed dating event and see if there was anything that we could incoperate into our own script.
The pub setting allowed for us to hear what noises we would have to use as background noise to make it seem realistic, and we were able to take a sample of some of these noises.
The owner of the pub allowed us to have a quick interview with him, and he spoke about why he had chosen to hold a speed dating event at his pub.
"The majority of them are held in the evening, so I thought about all the single mums and workers, etc, who wouldn't have the time to attend them later in the day so why not have one in the afternoon when they've got a bit of free time on their hands!"
As this was their first event, we asked him what he thought the turn out would be like.
"We normally have a single mum's club on a Tuesday afternoon, so I know that all the regulars there will turn up, it's just the men I'm a bit worried about, we've done quite a bit of advertising so hopefully, we'll have a good turn out."
