After this, we needed to understand the ways that radio dramas actually worked. In order to get a feel for the way in which existing radio dramas establish character and distinguish between setting, we analysed some of the dramas which are played on BBC radio stations. The link below will take you to a clip of a section of Archers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tu_MbN581YY The Archers is the longest running radio drama series, played on BBC Radio one. The Archers is set in an agriculatural environment. The clip below is one that has a more broader issue, expanding from the argricultual world and dealing with life issues, and more about the couples relationship. We analysed this clip to establish how characters change and how to create setting.
We realised the following things;
*Tone of voice and range of voices establishes character.
*Fading in and out to change scenes.
* On one scene, someone was walking away so the fade proved effective.
*Don't be too obvious!
